i recorded a video onto an 8mm Sony Hi8MP.

my camcorder recently broke so i cant upload it onto my computer.
do you think it’d work with somebody else’s camera?

If the other camcorder is the same format (Hi8) it should work. If it’s Digital8 it may work as some of them were backwards compatible with the older formats.

It’s the same camcorder, just different colours. The MPEG-2 PS video format is a bit unusual – I’d find out what video editors will work with it before buying one. Don’t rely on the supplied software.

I was told that we need Memorex DVD+RW but will Sony DVD+RW work as well?

Memorex and Sony are just brands for DVD+RW discs. Basically they are the same. I don’t think memorex makes camcorders, but if they do, you could still use sony, fuji, or other brands of media.

The top models perform much better than the lower priced models. I have the older model DCR-SR100, which is being replaced this year by the SR200 & SR300. The best price of the SR200 is around $600 to $650.
