On this camcorder I was wondering aboutthe lenses. The seller said they where made by digital optics…..what does he mean?

Digital Optics is the brand name of the add-on lenses included in that auction.

If you do a search for "Digital Optics lens" on Google, most of the top searches suggest the lenses aren’t very good.

Review:
This camera can withstand a lot of abuse. I have accidentally dropped it on concrete and filmed in the rain for an hour without a cover, and it still keeps on trucking! Although, the rain did make it so the touch flip-screen only works in certain positions (usually tucked away and flipped out, as seen in the video). There are a few cracks even in the plastic, but that does not affect its performance. One thing that is rather frustrating with the HC1 model is that the DV tape ejects from the bottom, so it is difficult to do work with a tripod. Also, it is rather big compared to other models (note: the battery is after-stock). But other than that, it is a powerful and tough Sony camera.

I bought a Rode VideoMic for my Sony HDR-CX520V.
The mic has a 3.5mm jack that plugs into a camcorder’s audio in plug to give the audio to the camera.
For some reason, my camera does not have an audio in slot.
All it has is a half circle kind of plug that transmits data FROM the camcorder to a tv or computer and it also has a mini usb input and what looks like HDMI.

Is there any way at all that i can connect this 3.5mm jack into my camera??? Also if this helps the camera has a standard accessory shoe but im getting a converter so i can put the mic on the camera.

This camera does not have mic input, and looking at the picture, does not appear to have a photo accessory shoe either.

Well I have a bunch of little accessories for my Sony VX2100, cleaning kit, remote, battery charger, video light, lens hood, lcd screen protectors, etc. and then I have a fisheye and the acutal VX2100.

I have a DigiCom Photo Video Hard Case Pro Series that is construted from reinforced aluminum and in that case I have the Sony VX2100 Camcorder in it and the fisheye in it too, and thats all, they are both firmly in place with foam surrounding them both.

Then I have a soft camera bag that has all my little accersories in it(remote, charger, video light, lens hood, etc.).

What do you think of this setup, and also will the VX2100 be okay in the case without anything on the lens, because I cannot fit the lenshood on it in the case so it has nothing over the lens of the camcorder while in the case(the camcorder is surrounded by foam everywhere), but always when I take it out, I either put the fisheye on the lens or the lenshood on the lens, so when it is acutally out of its case in the open, some type of protection goes on it but in the case there is nothing over the lens.

It’s certainly inconvenient, but it works. Did you get the Digicom case for free? Otherwise, why buy a case that’s too small?
You should put a UV filter on the camcorder’s front. As it is, the front element of the lens is subject to all kinds of dirt and and air-born dust.
A filter for that would cost less than $30. It’s a cheap investment and a lot cheaper to replace than that front lens element.
All the accessories will still fit with the filter installed.

Last Year Christmas, I had a Sony Handycam as a present. The exact model is a DCR-SR32. All the equipment and accessories were included until one day… The CD that contains the software for the camcorder had snapped in half. The software was already on my laptop but just before I was going to transfer my videos off the camera onto the computer, the screen cracked!!!

Now I cannot use my laptop. I’m trying to find a download link for the exact model for the software. The software contains the Sony Hardware Utility and the Picture Motion Browser.

I am looking for answers that have links for the download, so please if you know any links, please answer.

You do not need the Sony Software to import the video from your DCR-SR32.

For example you can do this with free software from StashSpace.Com. Go to http://www.stashspace.com to check them out you have to sign up for an account (free or paid if you want video storage with them). Dragonfly hovering filmed with Sony HDR AX2000 – Much tougher than filming the Hooverflies, the dragonfly does not stay stationary very long. Especially when the camera is on them, also they are easy to spook and flu spastic. It took about 15 minutes to get the video with many aborted efforts, filmed at smooth slow record 240 fps with the Sony HDR AX2000 1080i in manual settings.

Hello I recently purchased a Sony Camcorder Model DCR-HC38 which has 40x Optical zoom and 2000x Digital zoom. I paid about $330 for it. however not a lot of accessories are compatible with it. So I was looking at Sony’s DCR-HC96 model. This has extra features, is compatible with many accessories and cost $800. But the zoom on this one is 40x optical and 120 digital. So I was wondering why that is? Is more zoom better? Please tell me everything you know about camcorders and zoom etc. Thank you.

generally optical zoom is better than digital zoom. the more the zoom, the more u can magnify the image ur recording, etc…

i think the answer to ur question is…if you want to be able to zoom more, the one u purchased does the job.

but if u wan ur camcorder to have more accessories, the Sony DCR-HC96 is ur choice.
